RIDE THEM BLUE ROADS!

"SCOOTER TALK"

A BRIEF UPDATE

Hopefully before September, probably on a Sunday morning, I'll head across the state of Florida to Boca Raton, to a noon meeting. It will be the first leg of a 2,500-mile, solo scooter ride. I shall be alone--not lonely, just alone. It is time.

Purpose of this ride is to meet and greet people, participate in as many daily catholic masses and as many AA meetings as possible all the way up the east coast to somewhere in Virginia. If I want to ride more...or less, it is my decision-of-the-day. (Great to be "in charge"! --grin! Well, God...of course!)

I have long desired to stop--while on the road--at many of the beautiful churches along the way. But I've always been speeding by about 80 mph. As for AA meetings, there are very few on I-95 or I-75. So the Blue Highways are a priority for this ride. Maybe I could call it "MEDITATIONS: The Less-Traveled Road". That might pass the copyright-law muster.

It is also my great hope to meet face-to-face with some bloggers along the way. Any of you bloggers who live along the Boca Raton , FL--to Richmond, Virginia corridor, and would like to join me for coffee, please let me know by email, so we can try to meet somewhere. I'll be on the motor scooter!

Having never ridden more than 200 miles in one 3-hour stretch, I am prepared for some soreness after a few days. I'll have a nice little GPS, and the most essential non-toy, my laptop--with computer access at Starbucks everywhere.

There is no timetable for this scooter trip, except where weather forces a layover.

I just wanted you all to know what I've been considering for many years, and planning for about six weeks. Any advice from bikers will be appreciated. Zane? Hellllp!

More on this another time, if anyone is interested in it...

Love ya, bloggers!
Peace.
Steve E

Oy! I wish you were coming further north, but I guess that is hoping too much.

Well, if you make it to Connecticut, NY (either the city or upstate) or Massachusetts (you could 12th step someone in my family!) please please please shoot me an email and you will have a place to stay.

That offer is valid anytime, not just for this scooter trip. And, of course, PG is welcome too.

VR...I could think of nothing more better than doing as you would suggest/hope. There are several places I would SURE like to go and visit with husbands--if any are willing to "do what it takes"...I need them as you know.

However, there's gotta be thousands of guys up there who would be happy to take your man through the steps.

I'm looking now for someone who wants to do this, because that way I'll get to do them again, also!

Bless you, J (some day...)

Steve-Check out Club Oasis, Palm Beach Gardens- about 15 miles north of Boca, few miles East of I 95. Its a warm, comfy 12 step club house with daily AA-meetings. My favorite is Saturday Night Live - AA/Al-anon meeting, Sat 8.30 pm.

Im in Miami, but would love to come up and meet you for coffee and a meeting!

One Saturday meeting 8:30 in August. Coming up! I'm excited, already smelling some roses.

I hope that you will be okay. Am I the only one more worried than happy for you?

steveroni said...

Carol...Nope! You and Prayer Girl!

I put 12,000 miles on the bike in one year, and still living--so I figure what's a couple thousand more
--me and my GPS (which I don't have one yet!)

I must tell you, though, it give me a warm feeling, the concern you both have for me.

Probably won't make it up to (Ooops! I almost wrote where you live! --Anonymity, ya know. Seriously)

Blessings and Peace!
