Note: at the bottom of this post is my application to "Monday's Child" which Jinksy suggested as a proper second home for this 140-character piece. OK?
Micro-Fiction Monday is hostessed by Susan at Stony River.

So Go to THIS place for Monday's Child
and I will also. And we will both be happy!
And here is Monday's Child for October 25, 2010
It DOES seem to fit well...
Jinksy suggested I post this also on Monday's Child. Being unfamiliar with the procedure for MC, maybe I'll just 'follow directions'...for a change--grin!

yep its what is on the invitation...smiles.
I once had a surprise birthday party thrown for me at a restaurant that had closed down.
A friend picked me up from work and drove me to an out of business Margaritaville. We walked up to the abandoned building and when I asked her why we were there she told me that everyone was supposed to meet there for my surprise birthday party. I guess everyone had already come and gone because we were the only ones there. It was quite a surprise.
Nothing like a surprise gone bad!! Great one for the day, Steve! I love it! Hope you have a great week!

Oh no! Poor little girl. You tell so much of the story in so few words. Great job!
Eerie. That black and white photo looks a lot like some I have of a family reunion in Saskatchewan in 1960.
No party guests, so sad!
Parties are hard enough on kids.
Mine always cried at their parties!
Good one!
Oh, how sad! :)
aww, that poor child... :( - nice MM though
Aww...poor kid. Imagine the would-be party-goers were surprised, too. Wherever they all showed up there were no goodies, and no party girl! Good job.
Sad to throw a party and no one shows up.
At least, it looks like the guests had a good enough time without the birthday girl.
You could turn this post into a double whammy - it would exactly fit Monday's Child prompt today, as well as the Microfiction picture!
I know this feelings...but only because my birthday is in December...and it just happened to snow on my birthday :(
Everyone else got lost! it is a big lake-
some are over by the old pier, where the boats launch- *Grin*
So sad for her.... :O(
For those among us who identify with this child, it is a sad tale. the happy part is that it made us more compassionate adults (I hope). The truth uncovers so much.

Jinksy was right!! :o)
sad thought...
That means for cake for us! :-)
I have that SAME Mailman at work!
oh dear, what a disaster
good thinking on this one
:)
Oh that poor little one! Love how you went about this week's prompt.
Great Party this little girl is having all by herself....she will be a writer someday with that kind of imagination....
Thanks for posting at Monday's Child ..got your comment know worries...bkm
I think I'd like that. "Surprise! No one is here. You can go back to sleep now."
But a little kid? Awww, no fun at all, Steveroni.

Awww, poor little girl!
Sad for her... but nicely written :)
nice work! this one was a fun one to work with! monday's child is fun! i like what you have done with it!... blessings....s....
I have to wonder why so many adults were invited to the little girl's party??? Maybe it's just as well that they didn't attend--what with the beer and all...LOL
Have a great week. Cheers!
Aw man, poor kid! We had a similar situation come up in our family, yikes.
I linked to you today.
it sure fits with monday's child's prompt aswell. well done, steveroni!
just a little not-so-important question:
why is there no blood in your coffee?
i prefer some blood in my coffee.
goodmorning,
~you know me.
I never had a birthday party myself...as a child- I mean. But if that had happened to me, I would have never forgotten so I would have never had any other birthdays to celebrate...
This made me sad:(
So, great job :)
hugs
D.

Its been awhile... hope all is well!

Didn't they tell her the party was a picnic at the beach? too bad.
How sad it would be for no one to show up. Glad I've sent my kid's invitations always at least 10 days in advance.
And Steveroni -- You are THE Man in my sidebar tonight, with a little link button there for YOU at the top, because I don't know you very well but what I know of you so far is awesome!!
xo
Hi Steveroni! I'm here to say: hello my friend.
(People next to the river,
music on the phonograph,
a gentle breeze; perhaps,
walnuts for to crush.)
Happy weekend Steveroni!!!:D
