I LIVE HERE

Re-Post from December 31, 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2011

Frequently, in getting to know blogger-Peeps,
I wonder, "Where do you live? What does
your house look like? Your yard?"
This is where steveroni lives...

WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

And I am so ever grateful to have a place to live. I do know what it is, to stand in the cold at midnight, snow swirling about howling winds. And I am there shivering with runny nose, fever, wet feet in soggy socks and shoes, feeling OH! so sorry for myself--you know the drill--"Nobody loves me...nobody cares!" I wish I had a hat.

Yeah, right. Boo-hoo-hoo! It is snowing so hard, several inches have accumulated while I'm standing there waiting for a bus--hopefully, heated. My ears are freezing, and my fingers also. If only I had a hat. "Achoo!"

Must remember to get my violin out of hock, and see if these fingers will still do the thing. Where did I leave that hat?

NOTE: I had pawned  my violin (worth $950 at the time) for $5...to buy a quart of "good" vodka. Two weeks later they wanted $17 for it's retrieval. The vodka, with my system of rationing, had lasted seven hours.

Ten more years of this kind of life brought me to my knees--literally--in 1974. I have not had a drink since. My gratitude is ongoing, characterized by activity in the groups of Alcoholics Anonymous. There I found, in twelve steps, a way of life...which makes life worth living.

Many of you Peeps are friends who I never have met, and probably will not experience that face-to-face joy of meeting. But I love you--ALL of you. And as we trudge this road of happy destiny, this road of Poems, Paintings, Music, Love and SOBRIETY, I am humbled. God has granted me SO many gifts, temporal, spiritual, and certainly not the least...YOU Peeps, who I cherish. And I now own eight hats!

Love.
Steve E

LOVE AND PEACE!

PEEPS!
It is time for me to sneak in here
To wish whoever comes by a
TOTAL MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It is Christmas in the heart
which puts Christmas in the air.
~W.T. Ellis

A three year old once gave this reaction to her Christmas dinner:  "I didn't like the turkey, but I liked the bread he ate."

FINAL POST

Amended:
There is so much work here in 717 posts. Rather then just trash everything, I decided (during the 30-day grace period given by blogger) to 'undelete' this blog--and to keep it up as a static blog, until such time as.....

BROKEN MAN

Here now stands a broken man--a shell
With countless years strewn wide behind
Of broken vows, banished hopes--he fell
Searching, seeking promise of a better place
--For just another drop his soul he'd sell

Ears ring--he hears an angel's bell
But too much to see, too much to bear
He languishes locked inside his self-made Hell
Yet deep inside that man's thin husk
Dwells the God of all Who can make him well

God's Eyes weep, His Heart breaks
He'd give His Life for this man's sake

And He did!

 --anonymous

Goodbye, all of you lovely peeps!
Love...and PEACE!
From a VERY GRATEFUL Steve E

"No thing is ever destroyed,
only transformed
sometimes into ugliness
but often--and surprisingly--
into a thing of beauty."

Micro-Fiction Monday-Where is the party?

Note: at the bottom of this post is my application to "Monday's Child" which Jinksy suggested as a proper second home for this 140-character piece. OK?

So Go to THIS place for Monday's Child
and I will also. And we will both be happy!

WATER EVERYWHERE???

To Nature she gave birth
In that Creative moment
Of dancing and mirth

Ah! Nature! See?
Just to be...dancing

She
Takes water from the sea
Filters, clears, makes clean
To return in waves of rainy sheen
Down and back to you and me.

Dance...dance in the rain

It is the grandest scheme
Greater than greatest dream--
This process of extraction
Reconditioning
Using again and again

...while dancing in the rain

To dampen
With sweet
Wetness

To nurture
For growing
And sustenance

Reason to dance--wet

It is the milk
Which our Mother
Dispenses

For dancing

For future
Assuredness
Of life's
Continuance.

FLASH FICTION FRIDAY--MOON ALIVE IN 55

MOON ALIVE IN 55 WORDS

The moon is in fullness tonight
Here and everywhere.
It is full
As is every created space
Every plate
Every cup
Every heart
Every soul

The fullness of life is in
The seed,
The weed
The flower

It is in the
Yearning
Earning
Learning

Desire burning
Culmination
Salvation

All full as the moon
And soon.

MAGPIE #37 "Meeeow!"

Here isTess Kincaid
In her blankey laid
She of cat family
Laps liquids wrong way

One paw reaching far out
Makes opening for her snout
She spys one other
Looks like her mother

Head turns this way and that
Other does same. That cat
In the same exact manner behaves
She says, "Like me--Tess Kincaid".

Crack in mirror,
Or crack in wall
Meeow, Meeow.
Goodnight to all.

WEDNESDAY SOMETHING....

THE CAMERA SHOOK

CHANCE MEETING?

This day I met an old man sitting on a huge rock
Higher up than the lower mountains.
With clouds below us so beautifully formed,
I asked him if he might take my photo.
He agreed, and I held out my camera.
So I was thinking
...better not do this.

As he was ready to focus,
His arms from all up to his shoulders
Began to shake in a near-violent manner.
I reached for my camera,
But the look on his face
Told me to continue.
Allow him to snap a picture.

He did.

He smiled.

I smiled.

We both looked into other's eyes
A few tears fell upon high land.
We each then smiled, shook hands,
Whispered our "goodbye".
He was happy, and so was I.

And tonight I ask myself
"Have you been friendly today...
to  anyone who needed a friend?"
And I wonder about the man.
He was so far from any sign of human life,
On top a very high mountain.
The air in its thinness was sweet-smelling.
Like jasmine.
I had rested long enough.

 I am sorry
I climbed so high
...Or AM I ?

ONE SHOT Wednesday--CHAIR IN THE WINDOW

Boats on Naples Bay
One gigantic mirror
Smooth, clear, unruffled
Every sound muffled

Overcast day, bit of fog
Unusual for sunny Naples
A Fish jumped, making waves
In ever-outreaching circles.

THE BAY:

Naples bay is Gulf water's extension
Which is reaching out to all, even me.
Nestled In sweet right arm of the sea
Is south-most of this peninsula.

Olde City of Naples:
And it is where I ought to be
At this moment viewing through picture window

Work of The Master Who created artists--
Who created art! Sitting,
Sitting! I could not stand. (This vistaed glory!)

The dentist's chair swings around,
Two over me hover,
Smooth, clear, unruffled
And every sound--muffled

SUNDAY 160 CRASH

FLY AWAY TODAY?

Four engines
Fuel-mega-drops spew
Off-and up we flew
What sweet memory

The view
Moon above
Sea below

Chaos reigned
Water's cold
Stomach of mine
Full of brine

It's Friday '55'--"BLIND WILL SEE--DEAF WILL HEAR"

THE TELLATOUCH

Children loved him
And his 'talking machine'.

Around him
They gathered...
On beaches, piers, islands, mountains--
In warm Gulf waters.

They typed letters,
Learning to spell.
His finger
On opposite side
Read braille symbols
Which corresponded
To bright-keyed alphas.

Children adored my father--

Deaf-blind

Who gave them always
A story--and a smile.

THE SEA...AND ME One Shot Poetry

The Sea and Me

One Shot Wednesday is where
We gather to speak poetry.
Write a poem. Join us.
Fun begins Tuesdays at 5pm, EST.

DANCING DOLPHIN

THE SEA...AND ME

Light peeped once
from clouded eastern sky
like a blink
Day had just awakened.

Miles stretched each way
From proud, quiet bay
To immensity of sea.
THIS! for lone Peep--me

Barely discerned, that flash of first-light
As were--as if being switched on.

To muse of rosy fingered heavens
In number of thousands
Swam splashing silvered minnows

Next, in silent awe I saw a dolphin
Followed by two more seeming
To rise and fall in unison
Sliding under and above
Happy and free at home in the sea

Absorbed totally in my musings
I began almost not hearing bird-songs

JOY flowed through my veins
Into my heart--overcame!
No description
Possible

Still delightful frolicking porpoises
These happenings in near-silence

Earliness of it all first caught my
Attention, until silent sounds of nature
Brought me into this one reality:
Today, I have not had a drink.

Neither had I to even think
about it.

Mine is to wait--and
Be ready for God's next move
In my life...and yours!

NOTE PLEASE:
The following short lines were derived
from H. W. Longfellow's
MIDNIGHT RIDE OF PAUL REVERE
Which you may read...FIRST

MY "PIE"

"One if by land
Two if by sea
Three if by air
(And that would be ME!)

And on the opposite shore
You'll hear my winged steed roar
As I (Shhhhh!) quiet him more.
One day this will all be lore."

So said Paul Revere-a-roni
Telling Peeps through his hand-held Sony
How the lighted signal will be:
Number of lanterns in a tree

Now know former farmers
How better set their armors
In order for all to see
Ways to set us free.

ONE SHOT WEDNESDAY -- SEA-LOVE

ONE SHOT WEDNESDAY

LOVING THE SEA

LOVE THE SEA

Sea of blue-hued beauty
Standing here before you
With respect, admiration
To give you, and love
Yes, love

It is said peace and happiness
(Sometimes warily sharing),
Are those keys to
The door of fulfillment
What of love?

Constant flowing of giving,
GIFTING the unsuspecting
This is the clue
I give you
It's called love

Thank you, oh ocean-body
Huge of water and life
You rage and tumble about
Yet suffer not from strife
I accept your love.

You are my friend, teacher:
Blues of the sweetest hues
Before you I stand erect
In awe and in respect
And in love

And I give you...
Me

CANDY IS DANDY

HERSHEY HAIKU

I shiver and shake
Until my craving is slaked
With sweet Hershey Bar

Oh! Chocolate, my lover
One I cannot bear without
Let me taste you once more

Just one little square
Which I can melt on my tongue
That's all I now dare

Lick and suck and smile
Every thing is OKAY
The rest of today

I hear you say what?
Body, are you telling me
Now you want some more...?

FOUR HAIKU
FOR YOU

what beautiful tones

this violin, only when

played by a violinist

the mighty old oak

no longer is so great if

no one is to see

A poem utters

only its nonsenses when

nobody to read

Parfum-- is useless

to the sweet loveliness of

your body so bare

Swallowed

This is my part in One Shot Wednesday
Please visit some of these beautiful Peeps

BECKONING SEA
TAKE ME

Gazing at the water's swirl
I see the paths of the world
This way...maybe that
Up, down or maybe not

Where do I look to see
You. Which direction to
Face?
Around my ankles the water
Seems to race
And begin
To drag me in

Are you in cold or warm?
Only could I take your arm
And with you flee
To go safely
To that place
Of peace
Understanding
Forgiveness
Tolerant happiness
And patient love
