True story: that I pretended to be blind and deaf--
sometimes just to feel how it must have been for my father during those years.....

Flash Fiction Friday 55
is a story written in exactly 55 words.
Let the G-Man know if you write one
and read the ones of your fellow writers.

Sometimes pretending I can
Neither see nor hear
Locked eyes and stuffed ears
I go around like a deaf-blind man.

Redolence of fresh-mowed Blue grass
Burnt toast, unburnt roast,
Of Angel Tulip scents
Riding soft night currents
Are my pleasure

None of these compare
With that sweetest aroma--
Essence of YOU, my Dearest

Peeps, I wish for our SOBRIETY
Peeps, I pray for our LOVE
Peeps, I hope for our PEACE

This is really beautiful. :)
Wonderful 55.

Kinda puts mine to shame, since my Friday 55 is about artificial colors and chemicals. LOL!

What a touching tribute, and really made me aware of my senses as I read it. Thank you for this wonderful 55.

"Locked eyes and stuffed ears" - love that, just love it. Pure poetry to my open ears.

I loved the whole thing.

Amazing tribute to your dad and the senses we so take for granted. I had a recent post that dealt with all 5 senses after a walking meditation exercise at Hazelden. Incredible experience. Thank you for sharing yours.

I think when we lose one or more of our senses, the other ones become more heightened. What an experience it must have been to try to feel what it felt like for your dad. Beautiful 55 Steve. Have a great weekend!

AH! Other senses do come alive when some of them fail!

Those are the sweetest words for a loved one that I heard in a long time! :)

Nice. I think that the sense of smell has been proven to be the strongest sense.
