DRINKING ALCOHOL TAUGHT ME HOW TO FLY

HE DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER ME!

WELL, YOU SAID, "COME BACK NEXT WEEK..."

Wonderful Lady at Cookie (Speaker) Meeting  last night inspired this story of her first day in Alcoholics Anonymous...misunderstood rejection, exaggerated fantasy, complete clue-less-ness.

I walked into the smoky room
One thing on my mind:
Troll for a groom.
In this group of alcoholics
There's got to be at least
ONE "handsome"--who frolics.

At meeting's end, HE came to me.
So stunning...Oh my God!!!
Said, "You are new here?"
"(sigh!) Yesss"
"Welcome...and please

Come back next week."

"Ohhhh (swoon)"

Alone, for the short trip home, I mentally
Chose the venue for our wedding,
The musicians, the photographer
My white dress, even the college
Our daughters would eventually
Attend.

"Next week", I went to where he sat
Believing I was all what he fancied.

What happened next
Made me drop my cup
He stared blankly up
At me--standing.
And he thought
Naught

For Today:

SOBER
GRATEFUL
LIVE
HELP
LOVE
BE AT PEACE

Keep fighting the good fight!!!!

Thanks for stopping by my other blog. There's more to that story but I haven't written there in a while it's difficult for me to write about that period in my. If you go to the oldest posts, you will see how the story began.

I see that you have a struggle of your own. And I wish you well! Do come back!!!!

Reminds me of how I had an instant crush on every female that was nice to me when I first entered the halls...

Took me a while to figure out that they were being nice because I was an aloholic, and that they just wanted me to have recovery.

She sounds like she needs Al-Anon as well.

Oh yes! Do we delude ourselves sometimes, Steve? Do we? I wonder!

If it was her first day in AA, maybe she still had "beer goggles" on....

Have a great weekend Steve. HOpe the weather is clement. Due for rain here.

It was a different kind of love, a much higher form...
It's the process that works it's magic.

I just remember my mind being foggy for two weeks after I came into my first meeting. But I also had many people telling me to come back and it is a good feeling. However my concern is why was she there? to get sober or to get a husband?! things that make you go hmmmmmmmm...have a great weekend!

I hope she outgrew that searching for a groom. There's a reason why we recommend no new relationships for the first year. We have nothing to offer.

Sounds like she had a "God sized hole in her heart" to quote a song I heard one time. It's a case of maybe "looking for love in all the wrong places?" Have a good weekend and thanks for your kind words on my Flash Fiction!

Nice. We come into our rooms thinking all sorts of crazy things. Suspect there would be a very different perspective today. Thanks and have a good one!

Whatever gets her to keep coming back. Until she comes for her own peace of mind. (Hugs)Indigo
