INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 75th ANNIVERSARY of AA

CONVENTION: PART I

AA 75th ANNIVERSARY
INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
July 1-4, 2010
San Antonio, Texas SA

Flight from Naples FL to Houston was a marvelous experience--I just LOVE flying!  It is reminding me when my scooter revs up, I have a sensation of being in a fast jet and feel the same surge of power as the wheels reluctantly push off the tarmac. (NOTE:  The wheels of my Suzuki stay somewhat grounded.)

I find it difficult to describe the sheer fun of spending an overnight in Houston, Texas...en-route to San Antonio.  In a time span of 22 hours, I had been at three AA meetings already--all three being held at Lambda Club. I met there two friends from the blogs--whom I had never seen eyeball-to-eyeball until now, since we are bloggers.

You MUST know it is a thrill to see and hear the sharing--and simply to "be with, among"--Peeps with whom I share some major life-altering changes mainly that we have discovered a daily reprieve from the deadly disease of alcoholism. That means to me even though we are strangers, we know one another quite well (TOO well?--grin!) Over the course of 3 meetings, a dinner, and a breakfast I met a whole new slate of wonderful men and women recovering from a fatal disease. But meeting dAAve and Zane was the highlight for me.

Then the rental-car drive to San Antonio Wednesday...I believe we have the only GPS gizmo which says to me, "Heyyy...slow DOWN, steveroni! I cannot keep up!"  Fact is, the GiPSo kept telling me where to turn AFTER I had passed the turnoff. This makes for a dizzi-roni, driving around in circles. I can make a 3-hour trip last an easy 4 hours!

Today was filled with registration, and "Peeping" (my new word for meeting and greeting Peeps who are new to me.)  Tomorrow, some more Peeping and schedule planning, for there is so much to do, and decide where to be and when.  There are round-the-clock meetings beginning Thursday midnight, ongoing through Sunday morning. Even THAT is exciting, for often I am up late, and can catch a meeting at 2 or 3 AM.

San Antonio Texas is a most beautiful city, a pure place of pleasure to be, walk, eat, and celebrate...

I'm sober today, Peeps.
FULL of Gratitude today, Peeps.
Expectations galore.....
Love, from

steveroni

Steveroni, I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying a wonderful time at your convention. There is something about people coming together with a common purpose that just makes it all the more wonderful. And four days... sounds like you will be having a blast!
